and what was left

I blog cool things occasionally.

My dad landed this morning in Vietnam to visit my grandpa who is getting older and I just called home to ask if he made it safe. Ong (which is Vietnamese for Grandpa), who is about 95 now, finally recognized my dad after a few sentences and asked where I was. My dad told him I was in school and Ong nodded his head and said “Oh yes, school. That’s why she’s not able to come home right now, right.” Love the man and don’t know how much time he has left, hearing my dad talk about how much weaker he’s become makes my heart hurt. Decided that I’ll be taking a month out of my summer to go spend some time with him, take advantage of what I’m able to have, so I don’t have to be sad later on and regret things, you know.

Also, sentences above sound a lot more sentimental in Vietnamese. Emotional ties to certain words and phrases and what not. TRANG, WHY SO EMOTIONAL.
